of in office services do you offer?
- Most
insurance plans allow in office testing with same day
results for urinalysis, fasting and random
sugar/glucose tests, rapid streptococcus testing for
pharyngitis/sore throats, stool testing for blood, and
urine pregnancy tests
- Urinalysis screening can help in the
diagnosis of a urinary tract infection, protein in the
urine, and blood in the urine.
- Fasting and random sugar/glucose
levels can help diagnose and monitor patients with
diabetes
- Streptococcus testing can help with
the diagnosis of a serious bacterial cause of
pharyngitis versus a simple viral pharyngitis
- Stool
testing for blood can help in the screening process
for colon cancer
- Urine
Pregnancy tests help detect if a person is
pregnant
- Most
plans allow in office testing with same day results
for Hemoglobin A1C for a 4 month sugar average,
Cholesterol/Lipid Panel, PT/INR testing, Hemoglobin
testing, TSH screening, mononucleosis, and
Helciobacter pylori ulcer bacteria.
- Hemoglobin A1C testing is used to
measure a patient's 4 month blood sugar average and is
a national standard to measure control of
diabetes
- Lipid
panels are recommended for patients in certain age
groups, with high cholesterol, with high blood
pressure, with diabetes, and other illnesses. The
Country Doctor offers full lipid panels, including the
total cholesterol, LDL/Bad Cholesterol, HDL/Good
Cholesterol, and triglycerides. With a diagnosis of
high cholesterol, diabetes, hypertension, low HDL,
high LDL, or high TG, the lipid panel is needed every
2-12 months, depending on the treatment plan.
- Liver
enzyme/ALT/AST monitoring is recommended for patients
on Statins: Lipitor, Zocor, Mevacor, Pravachol,
Lescol, Crestor, Advicor, Caduet, Vytorin, lovastatin,
pravastatin, simvastatin; Fibrates: Tricor, Lopid,
gemfibrozil; Nicotinic acid; Antidiabetic Glitazones:
Avandia, Avandamet, Avandaryl, Actos, Actoplus met,
Duetact; Precose; Antihypertensive ACE inhibitors
(lisinopril), calcium antagonists (norvasc, cardizem,
etc), Caduet; Selected other drugs: NSAIDS, Naprosyn,
Lamisil, Diclofenac, some anti cancer drugs.
- PT/INR testing is used to monitor
patients on coumadin/warfarin.
- Hemoglobin testing helps measure and
monitor for anemia.
- TSH,
or thyroid stimulating hormone, screening is approved
to screen for thyroid disease.
- Mononucleosis is a commonly missed
diagnosis in primary care. It is a highly contagious
viral disease.
- Helicobacter pylori is a stomach
bacteria that causes the majority of ulcers. Patients
with stomach burning or upset may want H. pylori blood
testing.
- IDOT
physicals and in office urine drug screens. Note
random urine drug screens are required for patients on
narcotic, benzodiazapine, and Class II/III/IV
medications. A positive drug screen or refusal to do
the drug screen means no more controlled prescription
medications from The Country Doctor
- The
Country Doctor does cryosurgery treatments of some
warts and skin tags, depending on the location.

services include Vitamin B12 shots, Tetanus boosters,
Hepatitis A and B shots, tuberculosis screening,
Pneumonia Vaccine, and Annual Flu shots. Other
injections and services may be available on a special
order basis.
