The Country Doctor, Ltd., is a private and independent practice based in the growing community of Shiloh, Illinois. Dr. David Larry Mitchell is the founder of The Country Doctor, Ltd, where he will continue his care of inpatients and outpatients.

Dr. Mitchell is a fully-licensed, Board Certified, Family Medicine Physician who grew up in Belleville and Shiloh, Illinois since 1976. He completed his early education at local schools, including Whiteside, Abraham Lincoln, and Belleville Township High School East. He earned a couple of Associate Degrees from Belleville Area College, graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, and earned his Medical Degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. He completed a three-year residency in Family Medicine at the Saint Louis University-affiliated and fully-accredited Forest Park Family Medicine Residency at the former Deaconess Central Hospital, where he was resident of the year and Chief Resident. He returned to live in the Shiloh area in 2002.

Dr. Mitchell's medical-related activities include

• Board Certification by the American Board of Family Physicians (meeting national Family Practice standards)
• Membership in the Illinois Academy of Family Physicians.
• Unrestricted state medical licenses in Illinois (2001) and Missouri (2000), including unrestricted Federal DEA Certification

• Membership in the American Medical Association 2002-2007 (Note I have decided not to renew the AMA, which costs $1,500 each year)

The Country Doctor, Ltd. is a modern practice with a computerized medical records and billing system. The computers and peripherals throughout the office were built or heavily modified by Dr. David Mitchell. The Macintosh/Windows Hybrid software for integrated patient records and billing was created by Dr. David Mitchell.

My latest rescue dog is pictured below. My last seven dogs are rescue dogs, with eleven dogs so far in my lifetime. Most of them lived between 10-14 years, and all have been great additions to my life. His shelter name, which I kept, is "Doc." Doc Mitchell is part border collie and part boxer. He is very intelligent, alert, and friendly. He has learned how to open a screen door, household doors, roll over, sit, shake hands, and jump up into my lap. He stays by my side, often when I am doing my medical records or internet time. Many wonderful dogs and cats are waiting for adoption in the Belleville, O'Fallon, and Shiloh area.
